This weekend Pastor Will Pavone taught us that one of the primary ways to resist temptation is to “Remember God’s Word.” (If you weren’t able to go to MBC, you can watch the message here!) Additionally, he taught us not only to memorize scripture, but also to “internalize” it. In other words, we need to meditate on God’s word and allow it to transform our hearts.

Many of you shared your “Fighter Verses” Sunday on the Internet Campus. These are verses that you have internalized and often bring to memory when facing temptation. Here is a list of the verses discussed by the Internet Campus community. Let us know if you have any others you’d like to share by leaving a comment!

Isaiah 49:4: “But I said, “I have labored to no purpose; I have spent my strength in vain and for nothing. Yet what is due me is in the LORD’s hand, and my reward is with my God.”

James 1:22: “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

1 Corinthians 9:27: “No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

John 10:10: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Philippians 4:13: “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”

1 Corinthians 10:13: “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”

Romans 5:3-4: “Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4perseverance, character; and character, hope.”

We love catching up with each of you Sunday mornings in the Internet Campus chat room! It’s great to meet the other people that you are worshiping with from all over the world. We are always encouraged and challenged by our discussions that take place before and after each service.

Now, we’d like to encourage you to continue the dialogue throughout the week. We’ve rebuilt our online presence to foster online fellowship. We hope that you will connect with us through our blog and social networks. Here’s what to do:

1. Find us on Facebook. Click the “like” button at the top-right to receive all of our updates in your Facebook news feed. Don’t be afraid to leave updates and comments of your own!

2. Follow us on Twitter. Click the “follow” button at the top left to receive all of our “Tweets.”

3. Visit our Internet Campus Prayer Wall. You can pray for the specific requests of others who attend the Internet Campus or leave a prayer request of your own. There is no better way to build community that to pray for one another!

Our prayer is to have a vibrant online community where we can encourage and challenge each other not just on Sundays, but all throughout the week. Will you help us to make this happen?

There is exciting news for Internet Campus attenders that use the latest Android smartphones.

The newest releases of Android phones come with Adobe Flash 10.1 installed right out of the box. This means that these new devices will be able to display the McLean Bible Church and Frontline Internet Campus streams. Below is a picture of a Droid 2 displaying the Frontline Internet Campus on Sunday, August 16 (Pastor Mike Kelsey is the gentleman preaching).

Here is a list of the devices that are now being offered with Flash 10.1 already installed:

  • Motorola Droid 2
  • Motorola Droid X
  • HTC Evo
  • HTC Desire
  • HTC Incredible
  • Samsung Galaxy S
  • Motorola Milestone

If you have an earlier Android device, you may be able to still view the Internet Campus on your device. As long as you have Android 2.2 running on your mobile device, all you need to do is download  Flash 10.1 on your device and you are set!

Our prayer is that mobile streaming will be just one of the ways that we are making an impact for Christ in the DC area and around the world.

Dear Internet Campus,

We are very excited to announce that the NEW Internet Campus is almost here! Some of its new features include closed captioning, real-time user IP mapping, embedded chat, improved sermon notes and a new ultra-high bandwidth stream for full-screen and flat panel viewing.

Lord willing, June 27 will be our public launch. However, for adequate testing, we need to simulate a live Sunday service with a large pool of users. I would like to invite each of you to preview Internet Campus 2.0 this Sunday. I would also like to ask you to provide feedback and report any bugs that may have gone overlooked. Here are the instructions:

  1. For the 10:45 AM service this Sunday, use this link. The page will open 15 minutes prior to the service.
  2. For the 5:30 PM Frontline service this Sunday, use this link. The page will open 15 minutes prior to the service.
  3. Following each service, let us know what you thought by filling out this survey.
  4. Please invite as many people as you would like! Our goal is to put a large load on the servers in order to simulate a live Sunday service.

We are very excited about this new tool and our prayer is that it would be a reliable and effective way to impact secular Washington and the world with the message of Christ. Thank you in advance for lending us assistance toward that end.

In Christ,

Brandon

Dear Internet Campus,

We want to know where in the world you are worshiping! So send us pictures of you and your group using the Internet Campus this Sunday.

There is a chance that your picture will be used for an upcoming video to be played at McLean Bible Church services. So don’t be shy! Show us where in the world you are worshiping by following these steps:
1.    Snap a digital picture of you and your group in an online worship setting. Show us your smiling faces and computers with the Internet Campus pulled up.
2.    Upload the picture and send it to internetcampus@mcleanbible.org.
3.    Include your name and location. If you wish, include a story of how the Internet Campus has blessed your life. If there’s anything you want to say to the rest of the MBC church body, now is your chance.

Below are some pictures of us to get the ball rolling!

See you online,

The Internet Campus Team

Dear Internet Campus,

On this National Day of Prayer, we want to share an exciting new tool. We call it the Internet Campus Prayer Wall.

This tool is designed for each of you to share your prayer requests with the Internet Campus community. Additionally, it allows you to honor the prayer requests of others. Just click “Share your prayer request” at the top. You can leave your name or post anonymously. When you have prayed for someone else, let them know by clicking the “I prayed for this” button. We hope that by praying for each other, we will truly  develop a sense of being one global church body.

So give the Prayer Wall a shot. What better day to start than on the National Day of Prayer!

See you online,

The Internet Campus Team

Every week I am so encouraged by emails and feedback about what God is doing on the Internet Campus. Starting this week, I want to begin sharing some of these stories with you. I hope that it will be a huge encouragement for you to see what God is doing through our global church body.

(If you have any great stories about how God is using the Internet Campus, please let us know by leaving a comment below!)

“Just wanted to drop you a note from the ice. I’m currently deployed to Mcmurdo Station located off the Ross island shelf here in Antarctica. Ive been listening to as many front line sessions I can. We have a poor Internet connection but that doesn’t stop me from keeping up. Thanks again. I look forward to returning to the Tyson’s front line sessions when I return end of February.”
-       A.G. in Antarctica

“My husband and I worship with the rest of the world every Sunday because of all of your hard work!! We live in a remote area of Idaho and cannot always get to church. Our last church in Washington state always had very good teaching pastors so we are used to a meaty sermon. We did not realize how hard that is to find! So we are so happy to be able to be a part of the online church!”
-       S.T. in Idaho

“The internet campus is a wonderful blessing. It is allowing my son and me to worship together with my wife who is a Singaporean citizen/resident. Today’s message was of particular interest – the long process of getting a visa is tough, but I have never doubted that the Lord’s will in our lives is the one that matters. He is building the strong foundation of our new marriage and strengthening our patience. God is Great and he will do what is best for our lives no matter what the outcome.”
-       M.L. in Alexandria, VA

“We attended McLean Bible Church when we visited our son who lived in D.C at the time. We have relatives in Annandale so we make it a point to attend McLean when we visit. It is a true blessing to worship together with believers via the internet campus. Thank you for providing this service.”
-       Ron in New York

“I work in FL and my spouse lives in MN. I travel there every other weekend. So one week I join the Internet Campus from FL and the next week from MN. It keeps me connected to my home church.”
-       Ken in Florida

“I love the internet campus! Praise God for it! I am suffering from a chronic illness that prevents me from attending in person. Church was so good today I had to tune in twice! I’m sure my neighbors wish I would worship more quietly but I am so excited I get to sing along I can’t help myself! I hope to be able to come back some day but until then your internet campus allows me to feel more connected to the body and to fellowship and worship with them together. It keeps me from feeling isolated and alone. God bless you all for offering this gift.”

Dear Internet Campus,

We wanted to share the results from our recent serving opportunity on the Internet Campus. We are excited to report that we had a very strong response! While donations are still coming in, so far we have received 6 laptop computers, 5 laptop computers and 6 monitors, along with many other computer parts and accessories.

As we mentioned, the computers will be reformatted with new operating systems and Bible software before being distributed to local ministries and families that are in need of a computer. Please pray that these computers get into the hands of those that truly need them. Please pray that lives will be blessed by someone owning their own computer for perhaps the very first time. Please pray that they will utilize the Bible software and be blessed by God’s word. Thanks to everyone who donated! If you are still interested in making a donation, please contact Brandon at brandon.buckner@mcleanbible.org. To learn more about the MBC Computer Ministry, click here.

See you online!

The Internet Campus Team

We are extremely excited to report changed lives from Sundays Internet Campus services. In cased you missed it, Senior Pastor Lon Solomon concluded his sermon with an invitation for anyone listening to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. As a result, 3 people indicated that they gave their lives to Christ at that very moment and began breathing eternally for the very first time. Praise God for such an amazing reality! Additionally, 6 others indicated that they rededicated their life to Christ after hearing Sunday’s message.

We are so blessed to be a part of what God is doing to change lives and impact secular Washington and the world with this amazing tool that we call the Internet Campus. Please pray for our new brothers and sisters in Christ. Please pray that they would start their spiritual journey strong, get connected to a Small Group and begin studying God’s word diligently. Please pray that they will start to become fully-devoted followers of Christ.

If you too were blessed and encouraged by Sunday’s message, please let us know by leaving a comment below!
