Last month’s shipment of school supplies, clothes, and toys to the Bazaar school at Kandahar Air Field in Afghanistan went so well that we have decided to do it again!

Last time the Brownies showed up to help pack

One of our Internet regulars, Jonathan, alerted us to a great serving opportunity:

There is a Bazaar School set up at the local market on Jonathan’s airfield in Kandahar where scores of vendors come in with their children. Prior to the start of the Bazaar, the kids attend a school the NATO community in Kandahar has set up for them. There are now almost 100 kids attending each week.

We have items to send over, and this time we need your help packing it!  We’ve teamed up with the Clothing Shop and Operation Kindness Ministry.

What: Packing care packages for children in Afghanistan
When: 7:00pm, Tuesday May 10th
Where: McLean Bible Church, 8925 Leesburg Pike, Vienna, VA 22182
Contact: Owen.Paun@mcleanbible.org

We have teamed up with one of our regular internet attenders, USAF Major Jonathan Joshua, to send school supplies, clothes, and toys for children who go to a school set up by the NATO community on Kandahar Air Field.  We are still collecting donations, and would appreciate your support.  Click here for info on what the children need, how to order it online, and when to send it.

This week, with the help of Operation Kindness, McLean Bible Church’s Clothing Ministry, and volunteers from the Internet Campus, we sent our first shipment to the school.

Please click here to send us supplies to help the children, and if you’re in the area, stop by on May 10th at 6:30 for the next packing night.

One of the greatest ways the Internet Campus impacts lives is by offering our deployed troops a way to worship with us from wherever they are serving around the globe. Now we’re blessed to have an opportunity to help one of our deployed brothers minister to children in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

USAF Major Jonathan Joshua is a regular name on both the MBC and Frontline Internet Campuses. If you’ve worshiped online recently and checked in our Lobby Chatroom, chances are good that Jonathan has said hello. He has a huge heart for Christ and a huge heart for MBC and Frontline. Additionally, he has a heart to reach out to children where he is stationed in Afghanistan.

There is a Bazaar School set up at the local market on Jonathan’s airfield in Kandahar where scores of vendors come in with their children. Prior to the start of the Bazaar, the kids attend a school the NATO community in Kandahar has set up for them. There are now almost 100 kids attending each week.

We can help by sending items that Jonathan and the team of volunteers from Headquarters U.S. Forces Afghanistan (South/Southwest) can give away to bless children that come to the Bazaar.

Here’s what to do…

1. Visit any online retailer and purchase items to donate. Items can include school supplies, clothing (boys ages 5-15), fabric to make clothes, non-perishable food or toys. Below are some definite needs:

Spiral Notebooks
Mechanical Pencils
Pens
Markers
Crayons
Rulers
Construction Paper
Children’s Scissors
Frisbees

Clothes (boys ages 5-15):
Target
Walmart
Amazon

2. Have them shipped directly to the address below.  We’ll partner with the Clothing Shop and Operation Kindness to have the items shipped over.

McLean Bible Church
c/o Internet Campus
8925 Leesburg Pike
Vienna, VA 22182

3. Pray for Jonathan and the children. Please pray that this outreach would have an evangelical impact through Jonathan and that the kids will experience the love of Christ through him and the donations.

4. Email “Owen.Paun@McLeanBible.Org,” and let me know what you purchased.  If you would like, we will include a picture of you along with a note of what city/state you are from when we hand out the items to the children.

It’s as simple as that! Once we’ve collected the donations, we will be sure that they get to Jonathan. For more information about the Bazaar school, please click here. Thanks for helping us serve these children in Christ’s name!

If you have any questions, please contact Owen at owen.paun@mcleanbible.org.

P.S: Please share this with your friends by Email, Facebook, or Twitter!

You don’t want to miss today’s broadcasts! Here’s why…

At Noon et, John McGowan continues in our vision series and reveals details about a major new initiative at Frontline. Matt Walkley leads us with an amazing worship set which includes Lead Me To The Cross, To Know Your Name and Savior King. Global Impact commissions 13 people for a trip to Brazil (frontlinelive.com).

At 2 PM and 7:30 PM ET, Lon Solomon continues in our People Jesus Met series and focuses on “Discouraged Peter.” It is an inspiring message about God’s unconditional love. The worship set is just as inspiring, with a special version of It Is Well With My Soul sung in Japanese to remember those affected by the recent tsunami (mbclive.org).

P.S. Please connect with us on Facebook and Twitter!

Today is a very important day for the MBC and Frontline Internet Campus as we will launch our 3 new weekly broadcasts! We pray that these new services will reach many people and impact many lives with the message of Jesus Christ. Don’t forget to help us spread the word. See you online!

Next month the Internet Campus will enter a new phase of growth as we will begin offering “Sim-Live” (Simulated-Live) services.

A Sim-Live service is a re-broadcast of our entire Sunday service (worship, announcements and teaching). We will kick off each service at a specific time and play it straight through while maintaining the interactive components of a live service.  In other words, while it will not be truly live, it will have the feel of a live service.

These new broadcasts will take place at different times throughout the week and will be targeted at different audiences around the world. For example, when Frontline offers live broadcasts Sunday evenings at 5:30 PM ET, our friends in the GMT, GMT +1 and GMT +2 time zones have to stay up until well after midnight to view the service. Now, when we offer a Sim-Live service Wednesday at Noon ET, this becomes an evening broadcast for these people. However, our friends in the United States are still welcome to join us on their lunch breaks! Our desire is to be one global church body that comes online to worship together.

Our “Global Map” feature during a Sunday morning broadcast.

We will begin offering Sim-Live service in phases. Phase 1 will launch March 2 and include the following times…

Wednesdays at Noon ET (frontlinelive.com)
Wednesdays at 2 PM ET (mbclive.org)
Wednesdays at 7:30 PM ET (mbclive.org)

Inspired to volunteer as a greeter or moderator for one of these Sim-Live services? Contact Brandon at brandon.buckner@mcleanbible.org.

See you online!

Dear Internet Campus,

As part of our vision for 2011, Frontline is partnering with Central Union Mission to meet the needs of homeless people in Washington, DC for the glory of Jesus Christ. This is a ministry that provides emergency shelter for men, spiritual recovery programs for men and women, food, ESL classes, and summer camp for inner city kids. We asked them what their biggest need was for 2011, and without hesitation they said men’s socks and underwear.

As part of the Internet Campus, we hope you join us and take action! Here’s what to do…

1. Visit any online retailer and purchase men’s socks (sizes 6-12) and men’s underwear (sized M, L or XL). Here are a couple of places you can look:

Target Men’s Socks & Underwear
Amazon Men’s Socks
Amazon Men’s Underwear

2. Have them shipped directly to the address below. Be sure that they will arrive on or before Monday, February 14.

McLean Bible Church
c/o Internet Campus
8925 Leesburg Pike
Vienna, VA 22182

It’s as simple as that! Once we’ve collected the donations, we will be sure that they get to Central Union Mission. For more information about this ministry, please visit the main Central Union Mission website. Thanks for helping us serve our community in Christ’s name!

See you online,

Internet Campus Team
